As Hasport Performance continues their R&D with the Honda Fit and K-motor transplant, Gillespie and his crew push forward with new designs and various revisions on their soon-to-be-released swap kit. As this article is being written, there is currently no stock header known to fit perfectly with this swap. Hasport is currently in works with Jackson Racing to design and manufacture a bolt-in header which will be available by the time the mounts are released to the general public. Just imagine... a 600hp, K-powered Honda Fit screaming by you on the track as if you were standing still. No doubt, you've just been owned by a Honda Fit.

Hasport found that the only cables that were long enough and configured appropriately to work with a Fit shift mechanism and K-series '06 Si tranny came from the Accord or TSX. Since the Accord cables were the least expensive, Hasport tracked down a set in their scrap pile. Before the cable was connected into place and fully functional, Hasport made a bracket to hold the cable to the transmission. | 14. The cable was shortened... 14. The factory ECU also has the responsibility of running the throttle control (Drive-by-wire). The main portion of the engine management is handled by a Hondata K-pro ECU. | 17. Notice the Fit ECU is... 17. Notice the Fit ECU is running the drive-by-wire system. Gillespie and the boys at Hasport could have easily taken the easier route, running a cable while omitting the electronic throttle control. But for Gillespie, learning to work with the drive-by-wire-system would hopefully allow Hasport to incorporate future upgrades to the engine management, such as stability control and other key features not yet unlocked. To keep the K-Pro happy, the throttle position signal A was split and sent to the K-Pro. A custom adapter plate was also made to conjoin the Fit throttle body to the intake manifold. | |
