In the case of our Civic and other Hondas, flipping the vacuum hose over so that it's out of sight requires twisting the nipple on the intake manifold so it points straight down instead of up. This can be done with a pair of pliers. Then flip hose upside-down and re-install. As you can see here, it makes a big difference. View Related Article
