Pros
The SP1986 is Injen Technology's newest innovation and is sure to have the import community in a buzz. Using their innovative tri-step process and dyno tuned sensor adapter, Injen eliminates the use of the stock MAF adaptor. Dubbed as their MR Technology (Mega RAM), Injen offers both polished aluminum and black powder coat.
Cons
Installation was a snap once the front bumper was removed. Taking off the bumper was a pain in the ass itself but proved to be necessary in order to place the silicone hose for the cold air intake system. When installing the filter onto the pipe, we recommend wiping the oil on the inner lining of the filter before attempting to hose clamp the unit on. If you didn't do that, chances are that the filter will continuously pop off.
Notes
It's not rocket science that the larger displacement VQ is begging for a gulp of fresh air. The factory intake system is a proven bottleneck and was evident once the Injen intake took charge. Bottom end and midrange horsepower and torque towered over the previous exhaust run, well into 6300 rpm. A recorded 9 hp and 9 lb-ft of torque was seen at 5500 rpm while numerous 5 to 7 hp pickups were the norm from 4000rpm to 5000rpm.
